Professor Men Honghua appointed as special inspector by Shanghai Municipal Supervisory Commission

At the first appointment meeting held by Shanghai Municipal Supervisory Commission on June 10, 2019, a total of 40 experts were appointed as special inspectors. Liao Guoxun, a member of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, and Director of the Municipal Supervisory Committee awarded letters of appointment to the special inspectors and gave a speech. Tongji Distinguished Professor Men Honghua, President of the Institute for China & World Studies and Dean of the School of Political Science & International Relations, Tongji University, has become a special inspector, with an appointment term until January 2023.

 

 

Liao indicated that being a qualified inspector can effectively help improve the supervisory system of the Party and the nation, consolidate the landslide victory in the anti-corruption campaign, and strengthen the supervision of discipline inspection and supervisory organs.

 

As emphasized by Liao, the special inspectors are expected to thoroughly study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, effectively enhance their sense of responsibility and mission, correctly understand the situation and tasks of discipline inspection and supervision in the new era, perform their duties under the guidance of the authorities, and play the four roles of supervision, consultation, matchmaking and publicity, so as to contribute to the high-quality development of Shanghai’s discipline inspection and supervision and the strict self-discipline of the Party at the forefront. Relevant municipal authorities must not only ensure services and create conditions for duty performance, but also improve systems and mechanisms and innovate paths and methods, thus laying a solid foundation for the special inspectors to fully play their roles.
